How to make soya chunks manchurian?

Soya chunks are made of soya flour after removing soya oil from it. It is one of the best source of protein for vegitarian people. Soya chunks are basically derived from soya beans. Today we are suggesting an interesting and delicious soya chunks recipe that you must try at home. The recipe is soya chunks Manchurian that can be cooked in dry, semi gravy and gravy version. You can use Nutrela soya chunks(granules) for this recipe.

Ingredients for soya chunks Manchurian recipe


1 cup soya chunks boiled (150 gms)

Salt to taste

2 tbsp all-purpose flour/maida

3 tbsp cornflour/cornstarch

Pepper to season

1 tsp red chilly powder/paste

2 tsp ginger garlic crushed

1/2 tsp soy sauce

Oil for frying


Ingredients to prepare Manchurian sauce


2-3 tbsp oil

2 tsp finely chopped ginger

2 tsp finely chopped garlic

2-3 slit green chilies

2-3 stalks spring onions

One medium capsicum thinly sliced

2-3 tbsp tomato sauce/ketchup

1 tsp red chilly sauce

1 tsp soy sauce

2 tsp vinegar

2 tsp Schezwan sauce

1 tsp sugar

1 tbsp cornstarch mixed in 3-4 tbsp water


Method to cook soya chunks Manchurian:


  • Boil 1 cup of soy chunks in salted water for about 10 minutes. Then keep it aside for another 10-15 minutes so that the soya chunks will absorb most of the water and will become softer and bigger.

  • Now drain the excess water from the soya chunks and rinse it with fresh water for another 2-3 minutes.

  • Then take a small portion of the soya chunks in your palm and squeeze out the excess water in it. Repeat the step with the rest of the soya chunks and put them in a large bowl.

  • To marinate the soya chunks, add 2 tbsp all-purpose flour/maida, 3 tbsp cornflour/cornstarch, Salt to taste, black pepper, 1 tsp red chilly powder/paste, 2 tsp ginger garlic crushed, 1/2 tsp soy sauce and give it a good mix.

  • After coating all the ingredients with soy chunks, let the mixture rest for another 10-15 minutes. This way, soy chunks will absorb all the flavors.

  • Take a pan and heat some oil in it to fry soya chunks.

  • Now divide all the soya chunks into 3-4 portions and start frying one by one. Fry the chunks until it turns golden brown and super crispy. You can roast these chunks in the oven to make non fried soya chunks manchurian.

  • To prepare the sauce for Manchurian, take 2 tsp oil in a wok and heat it. Then add 2 tsp finely chopped ginger, 2 tsp finely chopped garlic, 2-3 slit green chilies, and saute it for the next 30-40 seconds. 

  • Now add 2-3 stalks of spring onions and saute it until trans lucent. In case you don’t have or want to use spring onion, then use regular onions.

  • Then put thinly sliced capsicum and saute it until slightly cooked.

  • Take a small bowl and add tomato ketchup, red chili sauce, soy sauce, vinegar, schezwan sauce, sugar, and mix everything well.

  • Now put these sauces mixture in the wok and saute it well.

  • Mix cornflour and water in another bowl and put it in the wok, and let it cook for the next 3 minutes until it gets perfect thickness.

  • Finally, add fried soya chunks in the wok and toss everything well and garnish it with the spring onions.


Your soya chunks Manchurian is ready to be served.
